I am a youngen and I need some advice. I am looking at a 1991-1993 M3. Is this car reliable, a pain in the ass to maintain? I do not have a a whole lot of money left over by the time I will be done buying the car and insuring it. So how expensive are standard parts like an oil filter. Are they ridiculously expensive or what. And if you guys have any imput on problems that are fairly comon to the car I'd like to know about them. Thanks

I got my 95 M3 and I just turned 19 exactly a month ago. Insurrance on an M3 I was told is the 3rd most expensive out there. Ferrari is first, not sure what second was, then M3. I dont get it personally cuz they're not that fast on a straight line, but I guess since they're uncommon and sportscars they can charge what they want. Get a good job and you wont have to worry about money issues

e30 M3's (1987 - 1991) are a great car and highly sought after for their fabulous track abilities. However, they are more temperamental than e36 cars… not quite as fast (4cyl vs. 6 cyl), and of course, don’t have as much modern engineering. They need a little more TLC than e36 (or e46) and drive totally differently. You need to drive one before you can make an educated decision about buying one.
I'd suggest posting on the e30 M3 board to get some owners' opinions.
