    Supercharger Advice

The thought of my baby putting out 350 hp at the crank sends chills down my spine. I have just a few basic questions about adding a supercharger in general. 1) What would a charger do to the life of the engine? Does it just punish the internal components/tranny? Will I stay in the shop? 2) What sort of maintenance will I need to keep the supercharger going? 3) Who do I get to install it?

    Thanks

A centrifical superchager fitted correctly will not dramaticlly effect engine life if the tune is set were detonation is under control, and U dont go too silly with the boost pressure. An intercooler will be recommended as the M3 has fairly high compression from the factory. The only downside to this setup is the boost builds as the rpm increases, so it makes more added power the higher RPM.

The Screw or roots style supercharger will add significalnly more forces to the engine internals, but the upside is there is more boost available from a lower RPM level which will allow the rev hungry M3 engine with V8 like bottom end torque.

u mentioned tranny, so i'm thinking you have auto, if that's the case the best way to go + the smog legal way is Dinan supercharger with custom auto tranny software.. u get 2 years warranty on the blower, and it seems to work great.. after i get my rims and brakes, it's my next mod..

Imports...good decision on the brakes before the supercharger. If you dont' have the money for brakes when you get that supercharger, it might just slip into the background and you'll forget about it.

        I know I would.

Thank you for your replys. I thought tranny was short for transmission. I actually have a manual. Will I also have to replace the clutch or flywheel with an added supercharger. Also, why do you go with the Dinan over the new twin screw that Conforti helped to tune. Is it because the amount of stress place on the internal components would be too much?

yeah, i wanna know why you would choose dinan over TW too. i've been reading about it alot and heard nothing but good things about it. imagine 300+ #s of torque at 2200 rpm

With a manual, you really should be replacing the clutch. You might be able to scrape by for just a little bit as long as you keep your right foot under control (but what fun is that), but our stock clutch really wouldn't be able to handle the kinda power you're going to be making.
