Oil change, detailed, lowered; pics inside

Lowered the car on friday with H&R Race, switched to synthetic oil, and did a pretty long detail job. Here is a before springs pic and after:

Very nice. It only looks like you went down half an inch or so in back and maybe one inch up front. Does the car have to settle any more or is that what the setup is?

Any info on the VR6 swap in the cabrio, did you do it yourself? Any more mods? I have seen some VR6 turbo cabrio's that were great sleepers.

Actually the car is lower in person that those pics made it to be...I know my old set-up on my other M settled after a month or so, so that's what im thinking will happen again.

The VR6 swap in her cabby is actually pretty easy, the platform (mk3) already has a VR6 (Jetta and GTi) so the engine bay is set-up for a VR in the 2.0 cabrio's. I did not do the swap, the guy she bought it off of does them for a living and she just happened to find the car when it went up for sale. I installed a chip, cold air intake, and motor mounts onto the car since she had it, it came with a cat-back magnaflow exhaust. BTW, she won first place at the first car show of the season last week in Cabrio modified

LoL, yea on stock shocks, i did it on my last one and they held up good for 3k miles, I just wanted to lower it for the time being untill i can afford the super high priced Bilsteins...I do the work myself so it doesnt hurt anything as far as pricing for labor. It rides fine

                Nick,

Car's looking good! I've got to install a set of springs myself. Do you mind outlining your install steps and state how long it took you to complete the job? Tricks? Hints?

                Thanks,

                Todd

Todd, Well one hint i can say is when doing the fronts is have the car jacked up with a car jack by the side you are working on to release tension on the sway bar end-links. When i did my first one I didnt do this and had to have someone jam a crow bar to get the end link off of the strut...if you have questions while installing just lemme know

Its pretty simple to overhaul suspension. I did mine completey in 4 hours. I had the benifit of a lift and some power tools though.

Nick, that looks pretty sweet...What have the race springs done to your camber?

Nick or Sean ? when lowering in the car does the M3 have adjustable camber

or is it aftermarket? I feel as you go down an inch your camber goes out effecting tire wear and handling. Just some thought before I precede. Also

with lowering will 245's or 255's fit without inner fender work ?

Well, you can always swap your shock hat plates with the right and left and get that extra -2 camber...

Camber isn't adjustable in stock form in the front, but is adjustable in the rear. If you just lower an inch you will have no problems with camber. Toe is a bigger problem in tire wear than camber. You can fit 255's no problem, you might need a spacer.

The gain is really only .8-1 degree. I went for -2 to -3 with swapped hats.
