    A Big "oh no!!!"

I was out Sunday for my normal drive in the M3. I only drive it on weekends, therefore I am a bit heavy-footed on both Sat and Sun. Merge off of I-77 onto I-85 and punch it; hitting ~120. As the lane that I was in began to close, I moved into the middle lane. Then BOOM, hit by Laser. 92 in a 60, and goodbye NCDL. Any suggestions? God, insurance is going to be expensive. Anyway, just thought I would include all of you in my discontent.

Sucks. I saw a cop last night when I was driving, I could see the laser from his window about 200 feet away. Luckly, I wasn't feeling lead footed at the time :P

It's worth fighting in court for a potential reduction. I just set my warning bell to 81 MPH this morning because I know it is just a question of time before I have a day like yours.....At least you were having fun when you got nailed. SORRY

About ten years ago, I got nailed on 85 heading north just before greensboro. Was in my wife's Mits.3000gtsl going about 110. It was midnight, no cars on the road, no radar detector indication. I see headlights behind me a ways back, Hmmm. Headlights GAINING now, ****! Shut it down to 65, blue lights, busted. I asked how they detected me, the cop says "the old fashioned way...VASCAR!" Timed between two bridges @ 106. Instantly arrested, bonded out after the Judge came in to the station, no biggie - couple hours. I lived in Atl at the time, went to G'boro for the court date charged with reckless endangerment, Judge told me I had to appear in Superior court because Felony, I say "hey I just drove 350 miles to dispose of the case - WTF?" He says too bad etc. As I am walking out a guy says "Hey, over here...how would you like to make this go away? He was a lawyer with an office next to the court house. I go to his office and he says give me 600$ and it's gone. So I get a "contract" from him and give him a 600$ check. Long story (somewhat) short....it dissappeared! ****ing legal criminals!

The lawyer told me that they had just raised the limit to 70 along 85 there and were charging everyone who got nailed for over 80 (which was everyone it seemed that day in court!) with Felony Reckless Endangerment. Said that he was making a fortune, along with other "officials" , for "solving" problems like mine. Kangeroo court revenue agents posing as law enforcement rat bastards!

For a crazy offense like that, get a lawyer. I've heard a lot of good experiences actually, but I'm from Texas where speeding always seems to turn into a slap on the wrist in general.

you could just take the M3 off the insurance for a little untell you get the ticket delt with. then once you see it will not rape you put it back on.

That has to fall under like, fraud or something lol.

nah...it's not fraud if he has another car. He can probably at least declare it as owning but not operating.

I don't know how insurance works. Now, if he drives the thing EVERYDAY it's bad. It is taking a chance overall though if you continue to drive it even on the weekends without insurance.

I might take it off though...

That really sucks...if you only drive it on the weekends, get collector's insurence (I think that's what it's called). That'll cut the insurence cost down if you can't make the ticket disappear...also, I'd get a lawyer...it's a felony right, then you'll have a jury and you can try to butter them up for some mercy. Good luck, my condolences.

                        86 in a 70

                        7:30 Sat am

                        hwy 55 north

120 mph with minimal warning -a seemingly meaningless blip started my foot applying minor pressure as I assessed the situation. Then there it was, a State trooper, full panic braking in full effect as the instant on lights up the detector like a x-mas tree. I rolled down the window to talk to oficess (female) ansd the smell of brakes filled the air. I thought I was nailed hard. Left the house at 6:00( way too early for me) and forgot my dl and proof of ins. Not good. Got to the cop car and saw the gun said 86 and she said she would just warn me on those as well as the failure to register(6 months and still no title)

Drove slowly for 1 whole day

I hope I can find a lawyer, state tix are tougher to skirt around here.

you for sure should fight it in court, i mean whats the worst that can happen, they give you what you would have gotten if you didnt fight it. plus, in my experience actually going to the court and talkin to the judge has helped. my buddy got a ticket going 120, adn got booked for attempted suicide and attempted assault with a deadly weapon. needless to say he went to court dressed very profssionally and got the charges dropped to a speeding ticket. yes it may seemed far fetched but it did happen.

Thanks for the suggestions and I will definently get a lawyer. I did fail to mention that I had to spend 14 hrs in Mecklenburg County Lockup and on top of the speeding I was charged with Reckless Driving...$2700 Bail :banghead: BTW you must be kidding that 92 in a 60 is a felony? Good God, not only is my driving record and bank account going straight to h?ll but my career as well  Of course, I would expect any decent lawyer should be able to plea this down.

Yesterday was the first day ever that I had no qualms about seeing the M in my rearview while driving off to work. But, today was a different story...as with my significant other, I can't be angry at her for long (especially when it is always my fault) lol

Just curious about what kind of detection you are running?
