Well, the time has come for me to replace my suspension. My 97 M3 5-speed has never in its 90k miles had it's suspension replaced and I know that the rear shock mount is broken. I already ordered up some GC replacements but at the same time I want to replace the stock shocks/springs.
At first I was just going to go with the H&R Sports with the Koni SA shocks, but then I decided that I wasn't sure if I liked the gap that it left in the front and lowered it so much in the back. Next I was going to go with the 375/450 GC Track/School Coilovers, which is still an option but I've heard about people having problems with this setup bottoming out.
I don't want to tuck the tire when I lower it, i know that this may be unavoidable in the rear, but I'd like to have there be no gap in the front. I will never track the car, and the car is my daily driver around town. I like to drive the car hard through the corners often, but I still want a comfortable ride.
The coilover setup that has been most interesting to me lately and I think I’m about to buy is the H&R setup which is 340/380. Seems like people really have had good experiences with it as far as handling and comfort goes. I also know that since I’m not tracking the car I’m not going to need to be adjusting it. I just want to set it once and forget about it. Since the H&R kit is properly valved for the springs that come with it, it seems like there is no way that it can be set up wrong. You just simply bolt them in and set it to the height you want and get an alignment; correct me if I’m wrong?
How much stiffer does the GC Track/School coilovers feel than the H&R coilovers? Do you guys think that I’d be happier with just the H&R sports instead of even dealing with the coilovers? Just want some input from you guys with experience.
Also, Now that I saw the KW Coilover GB in the For sale section on DTM Power that is an option as well since they come in at the same $1300 price range as the H&R's now. I'd go with the VI's. Can anybody provide any insight on these coilovers? Thanks!
