Just do a search and you will find dozens of threads on what it is and how to fix it.

You need to replace your brake light switch on your brake pedal. Its a $35 dollar part, under the dash towards the top of the pedal. Easy.

However, there are two different versions of the switch. One has more connectors than the other.

I had the same problem. Took it into the shop and since I am still under warrenty it was replaced for free. I doubt you have Certified pre owned, but if you do and it is still under warrenty they will take care of it.

...35 dollars from Stealer, 10 bucks online.

...and yes, I learned the hard way.

Is your brake lights still on when that error is on even though you have the car in a driveable gear.

If you have cruise control, you need the 4-pin version.

I had the same problem, but it turned out one of my lights went out intermittently.

One bulb was old and corroded (still worked, but sort of dim), and also the contacts on the bulb holder (the piece you twist out of the brake assembly and put the bulb in) was coming loose from thime to time so it wasn't making contact sometimes. I replaced bulb and bent the 2 contacts on the outside of the bulb holder out a bit for a tighter fit.

Haven't had the problem since, so I'm glad I tried this before getting the switch replaced.
