    California Guys

I HAVE A '95 M3 AND I WANTED TO GO WITH A CHIP, FILTER AND EURO MASS AIR FLOW METER. ALSO WITH THE 24lb. INJECTORS. ANYONE RUNNING THIS SET UP OR CLOSE TO IT. I'M WORRIED ABOUT PASSING SMOG. WHAT ARE MY OPTIONS? THANKS IN ADVANCE!

I believe that certain chips can be programmed to run in two modes. Correct me if i'm wrong, but the conforti chip allows for you to just re-program in minutes when you go for a smog check.

            dougykim is not really correct.

You have a 95 M3 and uses a chip. There are no special additional modes on it. Such a thing does NOT exist.

            Qu1k-

Just get the kit complete and if you have catalytic converters, you will pass assuming the software you get is tuned right and your engine is in good working condition.

on obd I cars.. chips are chips just like in the old days... you replace your stock chip with a new perf chip.. ie dinan JC AA... you can put the stock one back on but i guess it can be a biaaaa..ch.. on OBD II cars... When you want perf chips.. your not actually replacing a physical ship your just re programing the OEM eprom in the ECU.. this is done through the diag port in the engine bay. and the shark injector will allow you to go back and forth from stock the perf and perf to stock anytime you want.. as many times as you want.. BUT only on that ECU.. perty cool i say.. but even on obd II cars AA and dinan programs the ecus for you and dont give you a programer so you can't go back and forth... hey dug when you comin down

Some guys wont let you pass just for having a CAI. Some will.

the dyno / emission part you prolly won't have a problem (if the cat, O2 sensor etc. is intact) but the "visual" might trip you up. a tech. almost said no to the cone filter/intake on my 'vert when I had it smogged last month. he was cool tho' - he allowed it, due to the CARB exemption # that came with the kit.

so you guys think I should go for it, even with the injectors? By the way, I am new to this forum. Nice talking to you guys. You've been helpful. I have a '95 Dayton Violet M3 and a '01 Laguna Seca Blue E46 M3. I'm currently searching for an E30 M3. Thanks!
