M3 is entombed

Installed some 3M clear tape on my whole front end other than the bumper today.

It is a good feeling knowing that the original chip free paint is protected like the Shroud of Turin. The installer did the leading edge of the hood, fenders, mirrors and the whole area below the headlights. Might get bumper done later. It is very clear and you have to look closely to see it. Cost $190 USD. They did a nice job. I suppose it is a little bit like visiting your Aunt's house when they have plastic slip covers over the furniture. Now that this is out of the way, next stuff is BMW alarm/remote, X Brace and One more Bosch Ellipsoid. Might also get a cell based anti theft tracker as well just in case someone wants to tow the beast away.

Hopefully you would only see such a nightmare on the Autobahn, where you would get a friendly nod as you sailed by. Of course you migh be shot if you were dawdling in the left lane <G>

I didn't get the bumper done because the price seemed a little steep for this extra, and I can imagine that I might have to re paint the skin sometime down the road with all the bumps you end up getting in an urban environment. I never want to paint the hood or sheetmetal though unless a BAD person/ giant bird ruins the paint.

Great decision doing this mod. It's one of those things where you may not completely appreciate it(because you're not actually gaining anything. ie: horsepower, handling, looks), but it will save your cars finish. For a daily driver I think it's a must.
