    keeps stalling

every day my car stalls. turn the key, starts then stalls, try again and give it some gas and it stalls again. after the car sits for a few hours the same thing happens. wtf. just got the car a few weeks ago, it's my first m3 but my 3rd bmw. what could it be? looked in the faq section, but nothing on an e46 98 m3 coupe. love the car, but getting upset. any thoughts?

Check your MAF, also, the engine could be flooded a bit. I have ran into this at work before several times, seems once you get it started, hold it at around 4k to let the engine clear itself.. see if that works

my 'vert kept stalling after the blower install. turns out that the car had a vacuum leak on the intake side after the MAF, but before the intake plenum.

had the dme re-programed, seems fine today at least it didn't stall.

Mine will stall if I give it gas right after I start up. That's a normal M3 thing, but I'm not sure that's what you're talking about.

Reprogramming the DME helped. Just wait ~30 secs before driving the car. just don't touch the gas pretty much. It might be a more serious prob. though.

M3s dont' like cold starts lol. Let the engine smooth out, cause its running way lean during cold boots.

okay so i'm a newbie. anyway that car starts fine now and doesn't stall. a friend also has a 98, he told me about the cold start probs, but mine was more than usual. still learning about things, this site is helping.

Does it do anything else unusual... I would take the car out for a nice hard drive. (Let it properly warm up first of course). Clear out the engine, give it a good run.

nothing else unusual. still getting used to the car, alot diff then the 325 ci i had. has a full tank and it is a nice day. going for a drive after the pacers finish off the celtics.
