    OBC Help, please...

Long story short, I just picked up my 95 m3 ( :bugeye: :bugeye: ) and the seller took out his alpine head unit. He then tried to use the on board computer to turn it back on. He then ended up turn the fog lights off and never got the stock HK head unit up and running. He said I could find codes/procedures to turn them back on. Can someone PLEASE give me more details, walkthrough, or a link on how I can use the OBC to get it fixed.I do not have the owners manual that came with the car either. Mad thanks in advance to all the great members that make up this forum...

Wait... confused? He took out his alpine (aftermarket) headunit, and tried to turn what back on? The stock head unit?

If you're trying to get the stock headunit to work again, you'll need a code, if you don't have it, get the serial number from the back of the raido and PM it to me, and I can get you a code.

Oh, how close to Fairfax are ya?

Ok I got the number from Sirus (51531) and I tried to enter it in on the OBC. But the OBC only goes up to 1000ths. I am a super noob to this game any help on how to enter this code would be great... eace:

Did you get my PM? That code is your raido code, you enter that code on your raido if it says "CODE"

The 'code' button on the obc is a security feature. When you turn the car off, put the key back in acc and hit the code button. Put in a code and press set. Or is it press set, put in a code, press set again. Next time you go to start the car, you'll have to put that code back into the obc before the car will start.

Thats the only thing I can think of that says code... what does the display look like then? Can you get a pic?

no no...I think he's talking about the radio code he needs to input in order to get his HU working again. I had the same problem.

Uh...I forgot how to input the code thing correctly...just ask the dealer or do a web search. I remember that it is 5 digits and I somehow fixed mine. Just play around and you should be able to figure it out. Like, use various buttons on the head unit to try and make the numbers go up and down til you input your radio code.

You can't break anything doing this, so just play around.

Now the "code" button on your OBC is a totally different story which Sirius explained.

one more thing.. If u get the wrong code so many times on ur radio..I think like five. I believe u have to wait 12 hours before u retry. Its sumfin like that. Can anybody else elaborate a lil more?

Ill respond to both aston and genner:

To put the code in, turn the radio off then on, then just put the code in.

If you make three failed attempts, the raido will be locked for one hour, and you need to let it sit with power to it for that one hour. Its as simple as that.

THANX GUYS! That was the answer I was looking for. Sorry to confuse you Sirus. But Im sure I can figure it out now. One last question, once I get the aftermarket wiring harness ( from crutchfield ) I plan on putting my JVC unit in. Will I need a code for that? Cheers...

Depends on what JVC does to their headunits.. I would say no. My alpine didn't....
