    possible buy

hey guys, I own a 2003 mazdaspeed protege, im looking to sell it... anyways my question is this: Does $16,000 sound good/bad/decent for a 99 E36 M3 with 80,000 miles. I dont know the condition, its all hear say, and ill have to drive it and check it out before considering it more, but with the information i know is it worth checking out? to me it sounds like an awesome deal but ill ask the population... i want an M so bad u guys dont even understand

I don't think they run that cheap for that year. Maybe there's more to the car's history then you might know? Try CARFAXING it.

Kelly's Blue Book says it should cost almost $20,000 for that car if its in good condition.

If they are offering that for 16k thats pretty good for a kbb being 20k.... see if the owner has maintance records, and if you are serious about getting it, take it to a dealership and have it checked out.

I was on waiting list for 03 mazdaspeed. Thank god the release was delayed because at the last minute I was fooling around on Autotrader. Saw my dream car.....Estoril Blue 98 M3/4. I bought it next day. Dealer called a week later said I was next up on list. Never regret my M3. Mazdaspeed not even close. Paid $28k in 11/02 in L.A. $16k sounds even better.

Just curious, when they called back, what did you say?

"Yeah, I got an M3 instead.. sorry. *click*"... :P

Salesman was very understanding (who wouldn't understand choosing M3 over Protege). I had already bought another car (01 Explorer) from him 2 years prior. He asked if I I had a friend to buy it before he went to next guy on list. I thought that was pretty cool since they were having no trouble selling the mazdaspeeds.

Check out our FAQ section for buying used. All M3's with the exception of the earlier years like 95-96 with their plastic impellars are about the same maintenance wise.

The price is excellent if the car isn't junk. Get a good mech. to take a look at it for you.

That price is great, but you are a fool if you by a used car without having a BMW mechanic go through the car prior to purchasing it. It will be the best $200-$330 you ever spend.
