I have always had alpine decks. You need to connect remote turn on lead to factory amp , not power antenna with a generic harness. With alpine's, the deck shuts down the positive feed (to the amp) when you switch to cd (this would put your antenna down if you had one) so its an easy fix.

What has anyone done to solve the multiple factory antennae to one aftermarket antenna?

    Thanks

The new Alpine's will match - something like 250+ colors or something. As far as the older ones.... well lets just say green is the opposite of red so.....

I ordered this bad boy - 200+ colors and Alpine quality. Can't go wrong!

Don't know about the vent piece, but the AM reception in my car is less than outstanding as well. I'm sure there are aftermarket antennas available, but I've never really researched them.

Heres my headunit and equailiser. They are running the Harmon Kardon factory speakers and amp but I have new kit to install later on in the summer.

The screen is an Alpine IVX-C806 which is a CD player and RDS radio tuner, I also have an Alpine 6disc CD changer, and a 6 disc DVD changer in the boot that can play MP3 CDs aswell. I modied the console and moved the trip computer to the bottom so that my EQ as at the top where the computer used to be.

yeah i'm not really looking for an aftermarket antenna...just wondering if this was a common problem--gotta listen to the flyers playoff games in the car when necessary!

and if anyone else knows where i can find a new plastic piece for my vent that would be great...looks like someone stuck a screw driver in there...

If you get a new head unit and want to sell your cd changer, I might be interested. Is it factory and in good shape?

What's that gear knob off? Is it an OEM five speed one with no marking? Or an SMG one? Or what?

I went with an Alpine CDA 7998. It has an Amber display and great sound quality. It is a pre amp only, so beware

So what exactly does "pre amp only" mean? Do I HAVE TO get aftermarket amp together with it? My car has the stock HK system (an option from BMW), I'd assume it has some sort of amp already, right? Can I still just swap in 7998 without purchasing aftermarket amps? Thanks.
