    UPDATE on the Squeek!

Well...Just got my car back from the shop today! The untolerable squeek coming from my engine was nothing more than the damn ALTERNATOR! Got that replaced and now it is super quiet, I'm loving it, no more embarassment eace:

It was $250 plus install...not really sure what install came out to be, cuz I had a bunch of other stuff done at the same time. I didn't install it myself, I dont trust myself with a Bimmer, I did a lot of work by myself and with friends on my Mustang when I had it...but I figure "I get paid to do what I'm good at, so I can afford to pay others to do what they're good at".

I'm going to use the same logic once I start having money from a job. In college, I'm all about saving in any way possible...later though...it's all about specialization.

I find it easier to work on a BMW than most other cars. The components used are higher quality and more thought was put into the design of the vehicle. If you DIY on other cars, I don't see any reason why you couldn't on a BMW.

The alt is a DIY project. I did it in my driveway. Get the belts off, undo the bolts that connect the alt to the engine, and the wires to the alt, and work the alt free. Put new one in, put it all back together, and yer set.

              Its pretty straight foward.
