Also, is the alarm in any way related/being affected by the stereo unit? I'm asking because I just replaced the stock radio as well. So I don't know if it affects the behavior of the alarm unit. By looking at the alarm wiring harness it seems there's no relation though.

Stereo has nothing to do with the factory alarm.

Then it may be weak battery? Do you know where I can get replacement battery? Sometimes it takes several tries in a 10~20 seconds period to make the alarm arm or disarm. Also, is it always double lock the door or is there a way to "single lock" it? Thanks.

You'll be lucky if that's the problem -- any hardware store or Radio Shack will have battery, about $3.

If that's not it, check the thread on this subject KUpolo started, when his alarm didn't arm.

This IS the thread that you are refering to right? :bugeye:

Mine behaves differently, it just won't do anything (unlike what KUpolo said, there's no chirping or anything). But if I keep pushing the button, it'll "come back to life" again sometime and lock/unlock correctly. I haven't really found any certainty in its behavior though. I'll replace the battery just to see if it helps.

Well, I changed the battery and it's still behaving strangely. It seems whenever I leave it for a longer time (say more than a few minutes), I'll have to continue pushing the lock or unlock button multiple times for about 10 seconds, then it'll respond. Once it responds, I can then lock/unlock all I want and it'll do it correctly. It almost seems like the alarm "falls asleep" and needs 10~15 seconds to wake up when I start to push a button after long period of idle time. Arghhh....

This going to sound weird but it is a ghetto solution for weak batteries or weak antenna in the remote. While holding the remote upto your neck push the arm button. I have no idea why this helps and what the side effects may be but when my remote had a weak antenna this helped. I'll prob have tumors in my neck in a few years but my remote works! Sort of. :???:

So you are saying using my head as an antenna? What the hell I'll give it a try :hmm:

Could someone tell me where I can get the OEM alarm kit's OWNER's Manual (without purchasing an alarm kit of course)? I just want to take a look to see if I can get any clue (about the different setting, options and functions, etc). Thanks in advance.

And BTW, the neck thing did not work, as I have expected
