Front Lip (used or aftermarket)

Hello all, I recently bought a 97 M3 pictured below and noticed it does not have the front lip like some do. I think it is because only the sport pkgs came wth it. I am considering buying one to install, possibly used stock piece since I dont care to spend too much on it.



Does this piece have any function aside from look? Any downside to having it?



Anyone have a stock one for sale? Anyone recommend a nice aftermarket one?



Also, the previous owner of my car included the splash guard, but said it fell off several times while he had it on. I think he may have had the wrong bolts holding it in. Do you guys recommend having it on? Why?

I put the factory lip extension on my car as well...check out Understeer's (http://www.ohiomotorcycle.com/understeer/lipspoiler.shtml) website cuz they've got an awesome write-up on it including part#'s. It's super easy to install and is like $90 from the stealer. The lip deffinently finishes the front end off much better than the lux. spoiler.

What was your final cost with shipping? Mine has the sport package but either the seller took the lip off or broke it. It looks like the holes to mount are already there. Just curious if its cheaper than the local stealers price...

My car has the luxury package, but my front bumper has holes in the bottom of it, i'm curious whether it came like that, or if it was something the previous owner did?
