    should i get this m3??

hey guys im new and i need your suggestions on this m3 i am considering to get.

    97 M3 Estoril/Dove 2Dr 5sp

    104k miles

    Manual heated seats

    Sunroof

    Rear spoiler

    $15,500

    interior-

The seats are cracked all over the edges and pretty worn. Driver side door armrest is worn and faded. Backseats are kinda dirty but no cracking. Roof headliner had a little hole near the sunroof button. Carpets seemed fine, other than that interior seemed good.

    exterior-

paint looked in good condition. some scrapes and stratches around the rear bumper. 18" breyton inspirations with cross drilled rotors. stock suspension with h&r sport springs. had a very nice tuckage in the back. custom exhaust sounded nice at WOT.

the lights, fogs, trip comp, ac, windows, sunroof , rear windows all seem to work fine. car idled fine, but a clank clank right after the startup. i went for a quick testdrive and the transmission seemed normal but the clutch didnt feel smooth, sorta notchy? is this normal for high mileage cars? it hauled ass, i loved every second of it.

i think asking $15g is sorta high for the mileage? am i wrong? i was thinking of asking $14 or lower because i checked kbb and it valued at $12, nada at $15g, and edmunds at $12-14.

what do you guys think? should i get it or wait for a better deal to pop up? any suggestions welcomed.

    thanks

Yah...I would probably go by edmunds.com price and be sure to show this to the seller so he knows you have good ground on asking for a better deal.

If the seats were perfect it might have been a different story.

Personnally I would wait a bit longer to find something in maybe better condition. Better to do it once and have no regrets.

Price seems way too high for a 97. I got mine with 99,000 for 12,500, sounds steep, but I had hookups at work also...

I agree that it seems steep, especially for the condition. If anything get some comparable from cars.com or autotrader and show that to the seller. Although you may really want to get into the M market, take your time to find the right one. The market is also starting to turn into a seller's market since it is spring. Just my .02. Good luck.

I'd knock some money off the price or wait for a better car. It seems to me you could buy a lot lower mileage example for a couple of thou more. There potentially is a lot to replace on a car with this mileage. OTOH if the car already has had a lot of little things replaced, then maybe. From the sounds of the interior cosmetics, I would doubt it.

thanks for the reply guys. i really want to ask $12 but i dont think he will go that low. he said someone offered $17!!! i knew he was bsin, but he also said someone will give him $16g in 2weeks.

the seller didnt even know the name of the color!!

If he didn't know the name of the colour that is a bad sign. That means he is not an enthusiast. If he is not an enthusiast then he probably didn't maintain it that well. Just because he claims someone else is willing to overpay, that doesn't mean you should. My advice is to look at the whole USA as your shopping basket and to be patient. Know what you want, what you can pay and be prepared to travel for the right car. If it is higher mileage, expect to see maintenance and parts receipts and expect to shell out a couple of hundred for a very thorough inspection by a BMW expert. By far the best money you can spend. A big repair can up the price very quickly.

I had good luck using Autotrader.com to search all over the US. It took a few months to find what I was looking for.
