    how much oil

Dumb question guys...I can't find my manual anywhere, but how much oil does my M3 need when I change it? I just want to be sure, thanks

Usually its 7 quarts. Get 7, put in 6, let it sit a few minutes, measure and add as needed.

Stupid question...is the oil supposed to go up between the two notches on the dipstick, or the two small dots.

I have been always assuming the two notches....

Yeah, and follow Angella's instructions. You gotta check it fairly often to make sure you're not short on oil. These cars get thirsty.

Measure between the red and green lines. Red is low, green is full. Don't go over green. That area is aprox. one quart of oil.

Only on fresh oil for me. I think the new dipsticks are actually red in color... but turn dark from the oil. Its kinda like the fuel pump assemblies, they are bright white, but they turn orange from the gas...

Is there any type of oil I should avoid? I normally use Mobil 1 for all of my changes, but, I can get free Torco Synthetic Oil. Since free is a good price I was wondering...Does anyone currently use this product or has anyone heard any word on them?

Never heard of that. I like Mobil or Castrol personally. I use mineral oil though. Don't see the differences in the two besides how long they each last. Our engines are designed for mineral, but can take both. *shrug*
