should I do the fan delete

I have been wondering about the fan delete mod. Some people say that if you live in a warm area you shouldn't do it. But they listed places in Texas and Arizona which are both hotter than here. But living in So Cal, Los Angeles to be exact, would I be better off not doing the fan delete mod? Also how does it make the extra power? Does it just relieve the engine of some lag by disconecting the fan? Anyway, thanks in advance.

You can do the FDK and add an elec. fan if it's a hot climate as well.

ya, if you just took the engine fan off and replaced with an electris fan with a temp switch, you'd be fine. the fan may run a lot but at least you'll know it's doing it's job. as far as the entire fan delete kit goes, i don't really like the idea of putting in a different thermostat. if you were to just add the electric fan you'd be fine and the engine would be running at the temp it is meant to run at.

Honestly, do you really need the maybe 3-4 hp you might gain? To me it isn't worth the effort/risk.

the fan delete mod is not something new and dangerous to do. it started back in the day with muscle cars and hot rods. it frees up the engine quite a bit. i'd much rather have an electric fan than the engine fan. if you just take the fan off and do nothing it is a risk but i doubt anyone is that dumb. i wouldn't follow the fan delete mod that some of the tuners are trying to sell cause it's a total scam. there is no need to change the thermostat or temp switch. you just need to add an electric fan, thats it. i think it's great mod.

The fan delete is a proven mod in many autos, and if done properly with the addition of an electric fan will cause no ill effects.
