So for whatever reason, I decide to take my old 1990 Volvo sedan instead of the ///M to take my cousin to the airport. My family has kept the car for dirty work/long trips/etc instead of using our "nicer" cars. The VERY FIRST TIME I decide to take the old volvo out instead of the M3 since I have had the ///M, I end up getting a freakin speeding ticket. I mean, you have to floor it to get this thing to flow with freeway traffic, yet I manage to get a speeding ticket in the damn thing. Cop said I was goin 90 (I doubt it), 25 over the posted speed limit of 65. Anyway, just thought it was ironic . . . .:banghead:

I know the feeling, the only ticket I have ever gotten in 5 years was in my sisters stupid Saab, which is probably as much of a sled as the Volvo you were driving.
Be sure to plead not guilty, you never know what deal may come accross the table. They may throw it out completely or they might let you make a charitable contribution and wipe it off your record!! You will never know unless you try!!!

ha ha ha...since I started driving the M I havn't been hastled, but as soon as I got back in my Honda for some reason I got a speeding ticket...man, funny how that works out, I feel your pain, but deff. go to court and fight it if you're sure u were under 90. Use the "my old-school volvo can't even go that fast w/out a strong tail-wind and a steep hill" deffence. Good luck.

I think it's a 1990 Volvo 740. I am still considering what I can do to fight this thing (really don't want my insurance to go up, obviously). Some suggested getting a lawyer, others said go represent myself. We will see. As far as this being reckless driving, I don't think so. The actual citation is listed as "Exceeding Max Posted Speedlimit of 65". Under actual speed he put 90. Listen to this fellas, 2 years ago I was in my buddies Mustang (modified). He had picked me up from the airport, it was like 2 in the morning, and we had a 2 hour drive ahead of us. He was tired so I offered to drive. Roads were empty, and I was anxious to get to our destination, so I was pushin it. I got this thing up to +150. Anyway, I came to some traffic and had to slow down, and as soon as I do, some A-hole gets on my ass. So I speed up again amd BAM, he hits the lights and sirens. Oops. Anyway, He had my buddy and I face down on the freeway, yellin at us about how the car was being towed, I was going to get arrested, license revoked, bla bla. I was SCREWED. Until my buddy mentioned I was a Marine and getting ready to go to Iraq (which was all true, this was just before the war kicked off). So to make a long story short, I ended up just getting a speeding citation, and the judge just gave me a fine. No points, no insurance hike, nothing. I normaly try to contain myself and be a safe driver. This was obviously a very stupid thing to do (FUN!!! but not smart). Anyway, I got SUPER lucky. For that incident I DID hire a lawyer to represent me in court, so I think I would like to do that again. I obviously would benefit from whatever knowledge they can offer . . . .
