    ASC question

My ASC doesn't seem to be working guys, or at least not working as I would expect it to.

When the system is on, the light never comes on. I've tried to get some wheelspin with the system on and it seems like it's working. Admittedly, it's been difficult to tell since I also think my clutch is slipping. But shouldn't the light be coming on if it's working?

I know it's not the bulb since I recently changed it and can get the light to come on by turning the system off.

    Any ideas?

It won't flash the light unless you get major wheel spin. If you get some very minor spin, IE, you're taking a hard turn in the rain and skid ever-so-slightly, ASC kicks in, but just enough to stop the skid and cut power. If you're trying to go on snow, then it'll flash to the point you'll get a epileptic seizure.

Check for a bad clutch too.

If you have standard, put it in 5th going about 30 and give it gas... if the RPMs flare up, but you hardly gain speed, you need a clutch. The RPM's should stay even and you should slowly gain speed.

Well here's my other concern with the ASC and my ability to shut it off:

The other day I was trying to do a burn out (I know, I know - stupid, but a little fun with a worn clutch and some bald rears). I turned off the ASC and dumped the clutch in first at about 4000-5000 while holding the brakes. The problem is I couldn't get a burnout; the wheels would stop and the engine would basically drop.

      Any ideas?

That I am not too sure about, that one boggles me. :hmm:

How can you dump the clutch at 4-5K while holding the brake? Do you have 3 legs?

Well, the third one's not technically a leg...

Basically, I would move my left foot from clutch to brake very quickly.

Intresting... must be hard to master.

To be honest, it was the first time I've ever tried it. A friend of mine recommended it for a burnout, which I've never done (and which didn't work).

So any more ideas on the ASC? Could a fuse be blown or something?

Well.. if you never done it before heres my take on it:

When you droped the clutch and slammed on the brakes, you did the brakes too hard, which killed the burn out.

Try it again without brakes, and just try peeling out....

You can get cut-off valves that hold the front brakes for you with the push of a button, good for the track if you ever need to warm your rears up.
