    hi guys,

to follow up with the issue with my car,

I changed 2 o2 sensor , the car still running rich. I actually feel it has little bit more power, but gas milage is the same.

My exhaust tips still have Carbon deposit quickly.

I check the compression, it seem fine

    from 205 - 215 psi

    HELP!

like the last post before yours said, get some pictures of your engine. if he changed he engine it's possible you don't have the 3.2L engine in there...

Some rich is good, protects engine. Lean is more power but can cause detonation.

Was your former car an F1? And E36 just seems slow in comparison ?

Yeah, the biggest problem is that you're posting a relative feeling. We need data like, 1st gear only takes me to 19mph and stuff like that.

My previous car is prelude 92 Si. Ofcourse it not comparable to the m3.

Last time I had a stop light run with a new Maxima, I could not rape him though.

With all do respect... how good of a driver are you?

Did you launch properly? Did you forget to turn asc off, wheels spun and traction control kicked in...

Theres ALOT of factors that have to be considered when you try to run with someone....

Yeah , you right about the valid data. However, in my car takes a while to build up the speed. the rpm go up pretty quick but the speed take a while to catch up.

For example, it 's hard to spin the wheel even in first gear if I dont' raise the rpm before release the clutch.

I consider myself an average driver. I owned 3 stick shift car (2 honda prelude) I own this car about a year so i think i am very comfortable in a sense of adjusting gas pedal and clucth to get maximum power from the car.

I always turn the asc off and wheel not spinning.

I know how the m3 engine looks like and I know my car is 3.2l engine.

My car is much stronger than an 328.

hmmmm....what really gets me is how you've said lots of things that sound like a slipping clutch. Your RPMs rise faster than your speed and you can't get past 20 mph in first gear.

Running rich or not, it shouldn't affect your gearing. Have you gone to a mechanic and just let him take your car for a spin for like 5 mins? Just go to a dealer and the service guy could do it for free...just make sure you have an agreement before he does it so they don't charge you.

By this message, it really sounds like it is time for a new clutch. Try taking your car up through 2nd gear, then put the clutch in, raise the RPM's really high (5000) or so, then put the car in 5th and drop the clutch. If the clutch does not catch and you can kind of rev the engine, then the clutch is done. If the clutch is good, the car will bog down instantly.

My guess now is a new clutch is needed.

Thanks for the advice, but it seem hard to make an appointment with the bmw shops in my area!

I will try second to fifth method. I did last time the car seem bog down. I have the feeling the clutch is still ok.

                            Maybe time for some mods.

I am looking for the used 540 hfm . I had the 3.5 cosmos racing intake

I wouldn't buy anything until you figure out what's wrong because not being able to get past 20mph in 1st is a serious problem unless you have a swapped diff (which would feel much much faster).

Seriously, don't make an appt, just go drive to the dealer, say can I speak with a service advisor, ask him if he can take a quick ride in your car. Heck, any good mech. can probably do this. They're losing potential business if they blow you off.

There has to be someone in your area who can take 5 mins of their time, you know?

Aside from the 2-5 thing...try this. We've all recommended this throughout the thread, but I want you to try this and actually say, "YES I DID THIS AND IT WORKED". Go 25mph, stick in 5th. Floor the gas. If your revs climb almost at all, your clutch is done.

                                hey Astan,

I try the clutch this afternoon by driving at 20mph, raise the rev to 5000 rpm then floor the gas , the rpm bog down to 2000 rpm.

Then I drive first gear to 25 at 5500 rpm. Actually, it can go to 25 mph in first, but the car don't jump when i mash the gas in first. I think maybe the clutch not very good like you thought.

I may do the clutch next year when the budget allow.

                                Thank you for your response.
