Got a front end paint quote. Is it fair?

I know there was a thread about this not to long ago, but I figured it may help clear up the questions.

I had a quote done on painting my front end yesterday. (Everything from the door forward on my 99 Cosmos vert) In addition to the normal pieces, I asked him to include painting the kidney grills and either a Rieger lip or the Rieger Infinity I bumper.

The quote came back at $1412.20

For those that have had it done or know the business, does this seem fair?

Sounds like a good price if the quality is there.

Probably not a bad price for the entire front end - but like salty said make sure you check out some of their other work. Sometimes its hard to match certain colors.

Pretty good price for the entire front end... that would be like 2500 the shop I work in.

          Sirius,

Do you know anything about Tom Bush's collision center here in Jacksonville, Florida and/or do you have a way to check on them to see if they are any good?

The guy that gave me the quote I am confident with because he was running the shop at a Toyota dealer I went to with my MR2. Only problem, is that he will not be doing the paint work.

They said it would take 4 to 5 days.

For info on Tom Bush - talk to M3fuz. He's in Jax and has dealt with them.

No, I don't have experience with them. Never heard of them actually.

Cool, do you know if he's had paint work done by them? I usually don't deal with their service dept unless I have to, that is the only reason I am a little sketchy about having paint work done there.

Thanks for reminding me about him.

Sounds about right, i had someone back into my driverside fender about a month ago and when their insurance was done paying it came out to about 1500. They repainted the bumper/hood/1 fender and blended it into the rest of the paint perfectly. The shop mostly fixes ferraris/porsches etc here in Dallas so i'd say that's decent. If you're gonna spend all that money i'd look into the 3M clear bra to save your investment. I saw one on the shop owners son's 325 and you could hardly tell it was there and there wasn't a single chip on his front end.

The 3M bra is a good idea. Any idea how much they run.

I paid about $180 to have everything on my my front end covered except the bumper. They removed the Grill to get the film behind it. I also had the leading edge of the mirrors covered. And no, I don't have plastic seat covers in my living room!

Not sure about paint work, but I know he's dealt with the service dept. regarding the 5th gear issue I believe.

Oh yeah, I remember that post. There was another one out here about a guy getting his rim/wheel bent or curbed by them too.

Thanks for the heads up though, Fuz is a good guy.
