To tint or not to tint?

Hey guys,

I have a 1996 estoril lux package. Just curious to see whether you think i should tint my windows; and if so how much(%). I really like the way the black trim looks with the estoril and i think the tint would only enhance the look. I am not into making my car look "stupid"/"ghetto" and i love classy exterior mods, nothing over the top. Do you think tinting makes the car look bad or good especially with estoril. If anyone has a tinted estoril please post pics as well! Thanks in advance!

Tint it. I love the way it flows with the black moldings on my car and offsets the bright silver color. I have 25% and love it. It's not very dark at all, but the picture in my sig would say otherwise. At night you can't see inside the car, but in the daytime you can.

Absolutely tint it up! I have 20 or 25% on my Passat. I like it, but would probably have gone with a 30-35% if I had to do over again, mainly to avoid the hassles with cops/inspections I've had to endure. Night vision isn't too bad at 20-25%, but wet night vision succks donkey nuts!



Another thing to consider when selecting the darkness of tint is your interior color. My Passat is black exterior with black leather. The black leather makes the darker tint seem even darker. If you have a lighter colored interior, it will reflect more light and not make the tint so dark (and noticeable to the PoPo).



I love the way the tint makes my below average looking Passat really look sharp!! Can't wait to get my Cosmos tinted up, boyEE!!!

That blue 95 has 35% all around. I've got a Red 95 with tint that looks exactly the same at 35%.

Don't just get tint, get "Huper Optik" tint. It ceramic based, which means it's a much better insulator than metal based films. Find your nearest dealer, sample their demonstration kit, and you'll now why it's the best. There are only 2 variations (shades) available for automotive applications.



Their lighter tint is significantly lighter than the next best tint, at twice (at least 2x) the heat block. With the darker tint blocks out so much heat you'll freeze out with your AC, even in summer.

Already have euro ellipsoids with Gen V DDE's from umnitza. Gotta love them.



I also have all the euro clears and changed the front end a bit to make it look like the sport package.

I got 20% all around and I love it. Not too dark that you can't see out at night or look suspicious to johnny law, but dark enough that you feel you have some privacy. IMO, 35% was not worth it because to me the car looked the same as with no tint.
