What tires are you all running? Reviews?

I need to order 4 new tires for my ///M and was wondering what you all were running? Post what tires you have and if you like/dislike and why.

I'm trying to get some replacement Michelin Pilot Sports but they're hard to come by now that they started making the PS2's.

I was thinking Bridgestone PP S0-3's but they will run me about $900 for the set mounted and balanced, and I hear the tread life is terrible.

So let me know what you have and if you like them or not.

    Thanks.

Goodyear eagle F1's gd3- the grip is simply stunning and also they r the best tyre's in the rain. The life of the tread is decent and there is hardly any road rumble.

If you can get a set of SO3's for 900 mounted and balanced I'd go that route. Thats what I've had on the car for almost 2 years now and have nothing to say except for praise. As for tread life - dont expect too much out of any Z or higher rated tire. The SO3's on the rear lasted 13k miles with lots of 'spirited' driving, drifting, and a pseudo track event. Expect to replace the fronts every other time you do the rear.

S03's are long lived compared to the regular Michelin's Pilot sports from what I have heard. I also hear they are consistent as they wear. I have them on two cars and I have no complaints. I can only compare them to worn out Pilot SX. Now that was bad. I don't think you ca go wrong with the new Michleins , Goodyear, So3's and Toyo T1s.

Yokohama AVS ES100s - almost 20K miles and no signs of wear yet. Not the quitest tire in the world, but there's a great writeup about them in the new Roundel.

The Michellins pilot ps2 are better than the original. Thats what I have and they're awesome.

Toyo Proxes T1-S. Very good in the wet. Excellent in the dry. Very similar tread pattern to the original Pilot Sports.

Anyone have any experience with the Falken FK-451? It has almost identical tread pattern to the Michelin Pilot Sport and Toyo Proxes T1-S, but with a better treadwear rating of 280.

I'm asking because they're rather cheap at around $550 for the set but they have good reviews and better treadwear than most Z rated tires.

I know the saying is true, you get what you pay for. But I'm looking for a tire that will last more than 15k miles with some spirited driving mixed in with daily driving.

Go with PS2's. Probably the best tire out right now.

I've had the original Pilot Sports and the SO3's before. The Pilot Sports were grippy, the SO3's even more so, but the SO3 tread wear is terrible. If you do spirited driving don't be surprised if your rears last for about 6000 miles. Mine were worn at around 6000; by around 7500, I literally had a set of slicks on my rears.

I just put two PS2's on the rears; the SO3's are still on the front since they've got about 70% treat left. I had PS2's all around on my last car (323i) and they were great. I put a few thousand miles on them before selling the car, and they seemed to be holding up nicely.

I have about 5,000 miles on my S03's. I drive the car moderetely hard. (As much as i can get away with...but no burnouts, sliding). I would say I have next to no visible wear on the tires so far, and can't see them expiring before another 8k or so.

I just bought two sets of michelin pilot sports from discount tires direct/tires.com They are having a sale on 235/40-17 size at 132.00 a piece plus a $50.00 rebate with a purchase of four. This way I can rotate them front to back and get better wear. My mechanic states they will last 25,000-30,000 miles. I have been really impressed with them so far over the avs-es100 which only lasted 11,000 miles. They are quiet and track well.
