Just picked up my M3/4. A few questions

I just got back from picking it up this morning. As some of you already know, it's a black/black 98 sedan, 5-spd fully loaded CPO w/ 23k miles. It turned out to be even better than it seemed to be in the pics I saw. Totally scratchless, not even rock chips. Interior is 9/10.

I drove it back to Houston from Chicago area. 1200 miles in about 15 hours, averaging 80mph w/o a radar detector, and worst of all, all by myself! No eating, no sleeping, just stop - fill up - go and keep on repeating it. But thank go the cops weren't out, didn't get any ticket. I'm so damn tired right now, pics will come as soon as I can get out from my bedroom.

I do however have a few questions.

    1. Something wrong with the gas tank I guess. Each time while I was filling it up, the pump would stop frequently like the tank was full, from the first second I began pumping to when it was really full. Sometimes it could last 5 or 6 gallons before it stopped again. Is this a known problem on these cars?

    2. I noticed when I used cruise control, there was no indicator light on the dials. Is this normal?

    3. The side mirrors and the rear view mirror are kinda loose. I when drove on rough surface they shaked. Not too bad but a bit annoying. Is there a cure?

    4. Haven't read the manual yet, but the sun visor light on both side don't light up.

    TIA!

Sounds exactly like my drive home from Milwaukee with my Cosmos low miler last winter. (Trying to outrun a snow storm on S03 bridgestones only to get a white out after crossing the border...no sleep , etc.).

I have no problem filling up. Must be a vent problem or a restriction in the filler neck. There is no cruise control indicatopr light. I believe there is a slider switch for the mirrors, but can't remember. I would assume the mirrors can be tightened quite easily. It will all make sense when you wake up.

      1. Pull the nozzle out a little bit when you fill up. For whatever reason, my car acts like its full when you place the gas nozzle all the way in. Pull it out a bit, and you're good to go.

      2. No indicator on the gauges is normal - don't sweat it.

3&4. No idea, but I'm sure someone here will know.

Congrats on the ride, now you have to post pics!!

Pull the gas nozzle out a bit, theres too much of a seal and its causing it to think its full.

The mirrors are held on by posts for the side mirrors, they pop off. They may be loose from age, try some double stick tape inbetween the housing and the base. I don't think you can tighten the rear view mirror though.

You probably have bad sun visor switches, or a fuse is dead.

Theres no cruse indicator on these cars.

          Thanks guys.

The car is too dirty for a shoot out, I will get it cleaned tomorrow and take out my Canon Digital Rebel Still need to get some more sleep though, I'm having trouble getting all the spelling and grammar right...
