    UUC clutch stop question...

To any of you who have the UUC v2.0 "big-boy" clutch stop, or any aftermarket clutch stop for that matter...

I just put mine on, and I like it alot. But I can't help but wonder, am I doing any damage to my clutch?

How far down can this thing go? Can it go as low as the stock clutch stop? Mine's pretty high right now, and I'm thinking I'm going to screw it down some more to prevent any possible damage to my clutch.

Also, I noticed it's going to take some practice to launch in a race. I took the car behind my highschool for a quick run just to see what it felt like if I dumped the clutch at around 3000rpms. It was very hard to do (I only tried twice, ASC off of course). The first time the RPM's kinda just dropped instantly (not enough gas I guess) and my second try I did get a pretty good launch but it just felt kinda shakey, not as easy as it was without the UUC clutch stop in.

Did anyone else have this difficulty with their launches when they first put the new clutch stop on? Did you get used to it and adjust? I guess my main question is, am I doing any damage to my clutch by having this on my car?

    Thanks.

Go right past the disengagement point and you'll be fine. Maybe like 1/2 to 1 inch. Thats how mine is.

I should of went with the Big Boy Clutch Stop. I made one myself and the head is a bit small for aggressive foot stomping (works normally) and it got caught and that held the clutch down during my first drag. BAD bad bad, made me look bad and i take it that it can't be too good for the car ethier. I think i had the car up at about 65-75.

beware.. i had to chop about a half inch off my BBCS to make it work properly.. otherwise it was a pain to get in gear and was probably damaging synchros! yikes!

I had to have it chopped off too, it was almost like driving with no clutch trying to get it in gear. Now it works perfectly.

The only time I have a little trouble getting into gear on mine is 1st. Every other gear is how it used to be, but 1st takes a little added effort.

I screwed mine down a little bit more and it seems to be at a good height. Just gotta get used to my launches.

It makes it so you dont have to step all the way down when stepping in the clutch just as much that is needed. Basically a big disc that stands out from the standard clutch stop.

Its really good for people who are shorter like me who dont want to sit pressed up against the steering wheel. Also just good for daily driving since you dont have to depress the clutch as much when changing gears..

                  What he said.

You can adjust the stop so its right after the engagement point of the clutch. No more finding the point every time, just go all the way down to the stop and its right there, same place everytime.

just my two cents. I had some problems with engine starts after the clutch stop was placed. It is about 2/3 of the way up from the friction point so there is plenty of play. I sometimes have to stomp and click the clutch hard against the clutch stop in order to get ignition. Not a problem, but it's a bit annoying sometimes because you'd swear you pushed the clutch all the way in...you know your battery is good..so what the heck, right? Yeah...just click on the stop hard w/ the clutch and if you still don't get ignition...click harder and it works.
