    water pump

I've read somewhere that the water pump issue was only for '97 M3's and older. Guess I don't have to worry about this on my '99? Just asking b/c I hear that when the pumps go, they go without warning. I don't want to get stuck in the wrong place at the wrong time. Do any other parts in the '99 models go without warning? RSM's? Rear tail bushings?

    Thanks again.

Starting late 97 they came standard issue with the metal impellars, so you shouldn't worry about that. The RSMs you should check on though.

I have a 99 and because of all the discussion regarding RSMs being a weak point of the E36 decided to have them replaced with Ground Control units when I took my car in for new Bilsteins and Eibachs last week.

I rarely drive this car hard and never track it, but I'd been hearing a faint jiggling from the right rear area since the beginning of summer. When I went to pick my car up the next morning my shop showed me the collapsed rear shock mount bushing that had been causing the noise. This seems to be a design flaw of the E36 and is prone to failure regardless of driving style.

When I was discussing short shift kits with my shop, they said a good idea would be to swap out the old guibo/flex disk for a new one since they'd be under there anyway. This is something I'd been thinking of as well and was glad they brought it up before I did.
