    Repainting LTW wheels?

I purchased my 1995 M3 a few weeks ago, I love it!!! It has the LTW wheels, and I dont think the past owner ever washed them because the finish is pretty bad. I have herd these were painted, so I am wondering if I could get them repainted/refinished at a dealer or other shop. Also, what is the best way to clean them until then?

Just to clairfy, the wheels have the "BMW MOTORSPORT" lettering, and my car is a 3/95 build date. Also, it is a complete set (with matching spare) so I am fairly confinent they were bought as an original option and not later.

Do they have 5 spokes or 10 spokes?

The LTWs are staggered as well.

The split spokes kind of look like a sun to me and are the same width front and back.

They are 5 split spoke, I know they are the LTW wheels. I have just herd of a polished version, and a painted version. I was under the impression that the polished version did not have the "BMW MOTORSPORT" lettering.

Before you go and get them sprayed, try some EagleOne Nevadull. Can be found at autozone around all the other wheel care products. Its not a spray-on cleaner but more like cotton gauze that has polishing/cleaning compounds. I have the LTW (polished) and this stuff will clean any grime off your wheels except curb rash..

Nice, gotta love the LTW's. I'm pretty sure you could get them repainted, but it probably wouldn't be cheap. Try to see if some special cleaner will take the dirty out of them first. If not let us know how much it take to get them repainted. Maybe you could get them polished to look like the 96-99 LTW's???

Thanks, I will give that a try. However, it is almost as if the brake dust has eaten through the paint in some parts. In these areas it looks like it could be bare metal with speckled paint over it.

If anyone has had any experience with re-painting wheels, please tell me your experiences.

              Your impression is 10000000000000% correct.

Dude DO NOT USE NEV R DULL ON THOSE WHEELS!!!!

This product is OK for certain parts of the 96+ LTW wheels, but those are polished and the 95 LTWs are fully painted! The NEVR DULL could potentially damage the entire clearcoat on the wheel and badly score up the paint underneath. It is an abrasive wadding, and should come nowhere near either your paint or the paint on your wheels.

These guys will charge you $165 to refinish each wheel but it will be returned to you looking - and spinning - factory new. They service every local BMW dealer and cannot be touched when it comes to wheel refinishing.

165.00 sounds steep for refinishing. i had mine done for 75.00 a wheel. the guy was mobile and goes around to bmw and other high end car dealers b/c this is a common problem[ usually curb rash], but fixable nevertheless.

just call your local dealer and ask them who does there alloy wheel repair. i have the # of the guy who works locally in lancaster ,pa.
