    Knock sensors

After reading the thread on the O2 sensors and about how the DME checks for codes, I figured I'd thow this out there for any imput. I periodically (1-2 times/month) get a knock sensor fault code (for either or both cylinders 1-3 or 4-6). I suspect it isn't the knock sensors themselves, but maybe a mixture problem. I periodically add octane booster, which is butt-dyno proven, but I don't always have it at each fill-up. Any ideas? Thanks

It is almost undoubtedly the knock sensors themselves. They get old and crack with age (they are crystals mounted to the block). The characteristic sign is flickering CEL *the CEL does NOT light when the knock sensors are working properly*. Solution is replacement.
