    another front speakers question

My door speakers are dead and have been disconnected so now I can't hear the vocals very well. I've read a few posts stating how people don't even replace their mid speakers. If I just pop in new tweeters will that work or do I need to change out the speakers in the foot panels as well?

(The guy told me I could either go with a component setup or a coaxial one, at least I think that's what he said since I don't know much about car audio, and I've read everyone goes with component ones.)

if u were going to do it right.. then i would pull all 3 outta each side, buy a new amp.. and start from scratch.. ull have to unclip the mids out, same with tweets and mostlikely reuse both as the stock covers.. truthfully if ur not into the music etc.. then u could get someones stock for ur doors.. its not a big deal.. they would work fine.. with ur setup i would throw a sub in that ski hole.. but first get the speaker woes figured out.. its pretty much down to how much u wanna spend and what kinda quality u want outta ur system.. its very easy to install ( i have installed 2 setups and feel like a pro.. lol).. im sure more will have input on this..

I think I have it narrowed down to a 5.25" component setup with a tweeter in the top hole and nothing in the mid. That setup will run me about $200 I think but I doubt I'll be able to install it myself. I'm not looking for an upgrade, I'm just looking for something to replace the blown door speakers. I'm wary of using stock ones again since they tend to blow easily.

About 3 months ago I had a set of Focals, the Utopia's model "165W3" installed in my M3. The speaker kit is a 3-way component system. I opted for the ceramic tweeter over the titanium's, though.... I think Ti's are too harsh, for my ear's anyway. If you surf ebay, you can pick a set up for around $700+, NIB.

The system comes with a 5.5" Mid, that you can fit nicely where your factory mid's are. I kept the stock grill, so you don't know what the car has until you crank it up. Very clean install, everything else in the sound system is stock. I didn't even install the crossover that came with kit.

How much $ do you want for the x-overs?

I don't know what to ask for the crossovers, and I'm not that interested in selling them, because I may yank the Utopia's out one day when I sell my car.

If you really want or need them, make me an offer.
