    Double Locking Problem

I wired in an aftermarket alarm and I am having trouble with the double lock feature. I wired it up just like the diagrams floating around on the internet have it. See http://home.att.net/~voerman/ for an example. Anyway, it only single locks for some reason. I verified I have installed the diodes correctly with a meter and still nothing. I even tried reversing the diode coming from the locking wire from the alarm and still nothing. One odd thing I did notice is that if I unlock with the remote, and then hit the unlock again, the car locks?? Is that weird or what? I can't figure this out, but any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your time.

It's happening with mine right now but the guys that installed it are gonna fix it they said. I read that when you lock it, the alarm has to pulse both the unlock and lock wires or something like that.

I think I have a feeling of what is going on here. Whoever owned the car before me had an aftermarket alarm installed. I ripped it out to put in a new one. To make it easier on myself, I tagged all of the wires assuming it was correct to begin with. When you hit the unlock botton, and then the unlock button again, the doors lock. This mimics the central locking switch fround on the shifter console. I bet you rather than running wires to the other side of the car (alarm under steering wheel), he ran wires to the central locking switch and hence my problem. I'm going to run wires from across the cabin and see where that takes me. I'll keep you all posted.

I found that my car wasn't wired quite the same ast he wiring diagrams online...did you test both the pins that are supposedly lock and unlock?

Yes, I reversed what I thought to be the unlock and lock wires coming from somewhere under the dash. No dice. I think they just tapped off of the central locking switch and it only single locks versus the double lock. I guess I will have to tear out the glove box now. My car is looking like $hit with the exterior dirty as hell and the interior torn apart. I look forward to completing this project real soon.

My alarm install took like a total of 14 hours or something and my glovebox was on the floor for while I drove around. I'm surprised you didn't take the whole thing out the first time around.

Good luck man...I remember how bad it was.

Well the previous owner had the alarm done on the driver's side. Just about every wire was there that I needed. Unfortunately I will have to double check the lock and unlock wires. Well, leaving work now. Wish me luck!

P.S. 10 hours of wiring research and 4 hours of actual wiring to date. I'm sure I have at least 5 hours to go.

www.understeer.com has a tutorial on how to make an aftermarket alarm do the double lock trick. Try that and see if that does the trick.

OK double locks work as of now. Sure enough, the previous installer wired it wrong. I check to the other side and the wrong wire was tapped. I taped the right wire and bingo, double locking works. Now onto my next problem... I need to bypass the clutch interlock. I see a purple/white striped wire, a brown, and a brown/black wire. Any clues what to do?

Edit: I think the box around this diagram shows the wires I'm dealing with. Anyone want to shed some light on this?

According to this, the violet wire should have constant power. I took a reading and got nothing supposedly. I did blow #45 fuse because the jackass who wired this before striped all three wires and never taped them up.

Is this saying that if I ground the brown wire, then the puple will connect with the brown/black?
