    Kuhmo ecsta 712?

Anyone try these? They are only $104 each at tirerack. I'm considering them as a economical track tire. How do they compare to the ecsta MX?

From what I've read on other sports car forums, they're not as good as the MX. Good luck!

I have 215/50/16 712's on my Datsun. They are a pretty good value. My only complaint is they are loud when they approach their limit. I don't think I would put them on my M3 unless I was pressed for money.

I have them on my car now. Fronts came with them, and when I went to get rears, they didn't have what I wanted, but they did have these. they are OK, certainly not a bad tire all around. a bit noisy at the limit and a bit stiff...but good overall tire...but not great imop.

I'll most likely get something else when these wear out.

712's are horrible tires, just plain bad. I'll be buying MX's this time around.

i put 712's on my 02 altima v6 5sp and they were good for that car. vastly better then the stock crap tires. on the m3 it is a different story though. they are just not good enough, the car easily overdrives them. you have a fantastic car, don't skimp on tires. get mx's.

It reallly depends on what you are doing with the tires. The last three sets have been 712's on my car and they are great. For track I use toyo ra1's. So I really see no reason in having super sticky tires for the street as I never hit the limit. So get them they are cheap and they last. later aj

I had 712s on my '91 Toyota MR2 Turbo, and I now have MXs on my M3. The MX is just 100% superior in every way - they are so worth the extra $25-30 a tire it ain't even funny...

I put the mx on my m3 in spring 2003, and they were unreal in the wet driving, i live in minnesota and was scared to death to drive my car before i had them. But they are definitly nice for the wet road, but i have a terrible shake in the wheel at 55mph+, so i went to get the tires balanced and the guy told me the tires were "cupped" and i cannot rotate them because they are offset. So i do not know if this was because of the way they were originally installed or if they still can be balanced and the guy that looked at them is full of ****? But i would buy them again,
