    Computer speed lockout?

I heard that I can set my computer (1995 M3) so that the car won't exceed a preset speed - handy if you're worried that the valet parkers will go joy riding in your car. Does anyone know how to do this?

    Thanks!

Nope. Even with the full OBC, the speed setting is just a warnning. When you set a speed, the car beeps at you. Nothing else.

You can put a lock code in to prevent startup until the code is entered.

You can make it beep every hour using the memo button.. supposedly you can set the time it'll beep at or something....

Other than that.. its all info.

You can't play games or anything?? The lockout code sounds kind of cool. How do you do that? What about the autopilot button?

              I belive its like this:

Turn car off, turn back key to pos 2.

              Hit code+set

              Enter code using 1/10/100/1000 buttons

Hit set (code button should have a red light on it now) :hmm:

              Turn car off.

Then when you go to start, you'll have to enter the code before it starts next time.

Purp, Be careful about setting a lockout code. If you forget it I hear its a real PITA to have it reset. Sirius may be able to shed some more light.

What does the memo button do? Can't figure that one out.

Also I set a speed and noticed that when I reach or exceed that speed, the light on the computer blinks, but there's no audible beep....?

That code doesn't prevent anything. It'll reset if you unplug your battery for like 10 mins. The microchip in our key is all the protection we need. All the code does is prevent your siblings or parents from stealing your car.

the "speed" function is the lamest feature i have ever seen on a car. what were they thinking? "bing..."

The memo button is for the houlry chime, but if you hold that button, and the set button for a second or two, you can set some time on the memo feature... I guess its the number of minutes between each beep... or maybe its the minute in the hour it beeps... so 15 it would beep 15 mins after the hour...
