I'm in Canada where E36 M3's in good condition are VERY rare, and have a few friends that I work with who saw my car and wondered where the hell I got all the $$ since thay are on the same salary. The one paid $1k more than mine for a new Tiburon and the other paid about $4k less for a new 4cly Grand Am. The funniest part of all is my bosses at work all drive rustboxes but like has been said already, they have a wife/kids/house.....all about priorities. I bought my 88 325i while in University at 21, and now at 24 bought my M3 after working my ass off crushing my student loans. So if means I live with the folks for 1 extra year. No biggy, I just graduated last year and this way I get dinner made for me every night

yeah i felt the same way back in 2000 when i purchased my first BMW it was a brand new E46 323ci, everybody was like "whoa how does a 19 year old buy a brand new BMW, or did your mom buy it?". I simply worked hard and saved as much as I could for a whole year and put a nice down payment. And now, being an owner of a 1997 M3 and E46 323ci daily driver at the age of 24 people think im spoiled rotten. Like what many of you guys said its all about priorities. NO, i dont make 60,000 ayear and NO, I dont have a 5,000 dollar sound system with plasma tv's in my car. I just simply worked hard and save. IF YOU WORK HARD, PLAY HARDER!

It is all about priorities. I live in a small Town house, around 1300 SQF. My brother is a lawyer, and I bring down twice what he brings down.... But his house, is a huge 4,800 SQF home on 7 acres of land, he just had it built....

He drives a Honda, and a Mazda van.... aint too impressive. But I figure because he is a lawyer, he feels he needs to blow his money on a huge crazy large house to let all those around him know, he is large and in charge....

Me I am an obscurity, in an obscure proffession, that just happens to make a good bit of money.... But all I want is what I got, I love my car.... I'd rather have a large bank account than a large house, or the newest of cars.... The thing is, I do not want to live with the fear of living month to month because I spent beyond my means...

The only time I have felt a wee bit bad is when I jumped into my fathers 325, and thought.... Man, his car is not as good as mine, and at that moment I felt bad, because everyone always wants the best for their parents....

Not really. I just think that I spent my money better, because I care about cars. Sure, it costs a little more to maintain being that it's 7 years old and a BMW (not that much because I do my own work), but a new Accord/Jetta/Corolla/Camry/Whatever costs more. I take great joy in driving, so I bought something that would be fun, not just a mundane econobox.

I dont' even have my M3 yet...not picking it up til this tuesday (99' estoril blue, 44k miles.)

When i went through college i drove a piece of junk mustang around that costed me $4,000. I drove through college and into my first year with my first "real" job (teacher.) I used to get a bit upset with some of the college or even high school kids driving nicer bimmers or any other expensive car. 99% of the time they didnt buy it, but there is always that chance that they have a great paying job already..so i dont make judgments on others.

A small side story here...this M3 that i am picking up in to days....I waws so excited to test drive this car and buy this car. I went to they guys house and here his kid owned it (20 years old.) I asked why he was selling it and he said he wanted something a bit more unique. He told me he wanted to buy a Viper gts...but his dad really wants him to buy a ferrari.

Like everyone else I also feel guilty at times, but my daily driven 1985 RX-7 keeps me grounded. Love that little car just as much. 212K miles and counting.
