    ? about umnitza's pnp connectors

I'm thinking about upgrading to zkw's but I'm concerned about the installation process. After checking umnitza's website, it looks like their plug n play connectors still require you to splice factory wires. I guess its not really a true pnp connector where you just snap on the US spec plug into the pnp. :smash: Can anyone with these headlights give me some feedback?

The only wire you have to splice is the DDE rings if you get them. Supposedly the DDE kit comes with wire connectors that punches through the insulator of the wire for the sidemarkers, avoiding splicing... mine didn't come that way though. Other than that, its 100% pnp.

On mine, I ran wires all over hell, spliced into my side markers, ran a wire to the cabin, to a switch, back out to the DDE rings, so I can turn them off during the day to save life time. (I like to ride with my fogs on).

The website is confusing because it gives instructions of where to splice different wires when using the pnp connectors. I plan on installing the zkw's without angel eyes so I'm hoping this will be straight forward.

Itll be very straight foward. I don't remember seeing any directions for splicing wires though....

If you want the city light to work, you have to splice the gray wire into the park light. Umnitza's kit comes with the splicers so it's very easy to do. If you want a better connection, you can expose the source wire and solder your tap.

how safe is it to just use the pnp connector without soldering the factory wires into the headlight wires. I thought soldering wires was the safest and best thing to do.

The pnp connector come with wires to attach to the headlamp connectors, which plug directly in, then thoes wires are connected to 9006/9005 socket plugs, that plug into the factory 9006/9005 plugs.

You can use either the wiretap or expose the wires.

there is NO splicing at all unless you consider the junction tap a true SPLICE for the DDE.
