Aftermarket HID's for H1 Euro housing? Or restro fit from E39?

Which one is better? (Mr. Stanley could help on this one, or Ty Vil)

I noticed that some people say that no matter what Kelvin rating you get on the aftermarket you won't get the nice Xenon look from BMW. So I want to make sure and ask for myself and get answers istead of reading. Any ideas?

        Heres a pic...

My impression, OEMs aren't as white as 4500k, 4500k are brighter.

          Yes, please

EDIT: I think the ZKW + 4300K/4500K setup would look very close to OEM

Yeah, I don't know where astan is. But I think he showed me some websites on the fitment, types, brands of HID systems from different cars that can fit in the e36 euro housing.

Anyone have input on the comparison of the factory BMW X5 or E39(i noticed these are the coolest looking ones...very purple and actually bright, unlike my friend's CATZ purplish unbrightish beam) compared to the aftermarkets?

Sup...sorry I missed this thread. I can't ALWAYS be logged on.

My hard drive crashed, so I can't show you pics of what my headlights look like, but they are very very bright white. They are OEM E39 lights and ballasts.

Honestly, they are great for visibility and not drawing unwanted attention, but don't have enough of the pimp look at me factor that a lot of other xenon kits have.

They also don't do that xenon flashy thing that you seem to see a lot. Like...you know (X5's are super bad about this) when cars hit a bump and it all goes blue and blinding...mine don't do that. I think that looks cool and I KNOW other drivers hate it.

If you want these things for pure visibility though, OEM is great.

I think all CATZ's got recalled or something crazy like that. Those are just super bright and in your face blue/purple.

Do you want these things for show? If so, OEM may not be the way to go. Mine look a whole lot like the OEM in the pic above.

My setup consists of Euro Ellipsoids w/ OEM E39 bulbs and ballasts. I agree with Astan100 completely. As for performing the retrofit, you will have to bore out a hole in the back of the headlight housing to accept the larger bulb, then find a way to secure the bulb to the housing (this was the hardest part).

Oh, definitely not for show. I want to know I'm getting as close to OEM as I can. Anyone know if the X5's will fit?

Are you talking about the entire housing? Because they are shaped to the cars design.....:???:

Or are you talking about taking the entire housing apart, and transplanting the guts from one light to the next?

I like my aftermarket kit so much easier and cleaner to install.

Now with HID fogs (SHHHHH, pictures and write up coming soon)

I would like HID fogs, but I use my highbeams all the time.
