    easy rtab removal/install

that's right. only took me about 2 hours to remove the old bushings, prep, weld, and seal the trailing arm frame, install new bushings, and align.

first I marked the trailing arm housing and bolt position so that I could put it back together in the same position. then removed the bolts and let the trailing arm hang down. I then drilled the rubber around the center metal sleeve until I could pull that sleeve completely out. then with an air chisel, I easily pushed the bushing out.

Then I used a grinder and wire brush to clean away dirt and paint from the bolt carriages for the trailing arm so I could finish the weld around them. Zinc coated that and the inside of the bushing housing.

Then came the best part. Beautiful polyurethane bushings install in halves from each side. There is a metal sleeve in the middle and also a hollow, threaded sleeve to press the bushings together into the trailing arm by tightening the nuts. These bushings are awesome and cheaper if you decide to go with stock bushings and the turner limiter kit or if you have to buy the bushing tool.

The car handles beautifully and rides so smooth now compared to riding around on those old bushings.

I highly recommend the poly bushings from bavauto.com

How many miles does your car have? Do you auto-x it frequently. I just took my care for an alignment at BMW and mine weren;t worn out after 119k miles!

I would put some kind of lube on them, they will start to make noise. Thats the downside to poly in the rtab position, that and the rise in NVH.

I wouldn't use turners metal enforcers either.
