    Is my dad crazy?

I have just found a 1995 BMW w/ 81,000 miles. Immaculate, no scratches or dents and minor leather wear, all tune ups done, plus keyless entry. They are asking 13,500 (dealer). But my dad says to offer like 12,000- cash. Is he crazy? I thought that just the 13,500 was cheap. Plus, that's the reserve, so who knows how much it'll go for.

    *It has been inspected*

Thats pretty high for a 95, considering I got my 97 with 101,000 on it for 12,500...

      Wow, that ain't bad.

Anyways, my dad and I just got back from the BMW dealer. My dad knows several guys there, so he wanted to talk to them about it. The funny thing is that when he asked how much they cost around, they all said something like in between 14,000-16,000.

It's been my experience that NO dealer price is ever cheap. That does seem pretty high for a '95. I'd have to agree with your dad.....I would offer the $12k but out the door price, then see what they say........ eace:

I'm sorry, I worked at a car dealership. Dealerships/any sellers for that matter DO NOT CARE if you pay with cash. What's so exciting about cash compared to a cashiers check? Money is money in any form.

other than being a little more difficult to trace...

but most larger dealerships do see 'cash' as anything they don't have to finance... some of the small one's still don't mind pocketing a little more (lower sell, lower tax, more 'fees')

Actually, a lot of dealerships would rather you finance. They get incentives from the manufacturers so they really make more money than if you paid cash.

^ True, but can I remind you guys I'm talking about EBAY.

Or but then they do seem to have some kind of financing ordeal that you can choose to use. I'm not sure.

The actual auction ends in a couple days, so we'll soon see what really happens here.

"OH PLEASE GOD, I HAVE BEEN PATIENT LONG ENOUGH."

You have to be careful with private owners because some will just get insulted and think you're low balling.

Overall though, I think you should undercut the asking price.

Seems like he won't go lower than the reserve.

Kelly's Blue Book says it's worth $13,535 if purchasing from a private party. So I guess that the $13,500 will be worth it. Especially in its condition. Never seen such a mint '95 blk/blk yet. Seats look brand new.

Well, I put down my bid and think I might have this one in the whole.

                            Here's a sneek peek.

                              I paid 18.5 for a 95 with 31K

Now I'm thinking I got a deal for the milege
