    buying used e36 m3

I sold a 2002 m3 coupe smg2 last year just didn't like the car purchased a 1995 porsche 993 cab and really do not enjoy it. I am considering selling the 993 and buying a 1995-1997 m3 coupe or four door are the later models worth the money or is a 95 m3 a better handling car because of the equal size tires, and what should I expect to pay for a nice middle mileage 95-97 m3?

Wow, you shuffled a lot of cars around!

You are looking at paying 12k-20k. 12k is about rock bottom for one, but I wouldn't ride on that. 20k would be one with like no mileage whatsoever.

On average, I think that 15-17k is realistic for a decent condition one. If the car is going to be a track car, the 95 is a better choice for easier modability.

What are you buying the car for...track, daily driver?

I agree with Astan....you WILL get what you pay for (most of the time), and anywhere between $12k - $20k is expected. I paid 16k for my '95 M3, but it's the exact color scheme I wanted with a sh!@#$-load of extras. The way I figured it out financially, if I add all the stuff that the previous owner put on this car, I'd be paying way over $23k.

.......and he gave me ALL the stock parts that he replaced, along with NINE 17" tires, 5 aftermarket 17" BMW wheels, and four of the tires were brand new. But I like the 19" Hamanns that came with the car much better.

Good luck, and obviously, the M3 coupe with be MY choice! eace:

Nice to see a Cali man on the board. So many beautifu M3's out there, yours included. But we all know you guys pay top dollar out there, no way he'd touch a low mile M3/4 for under $20K. Cmon...

Rob, as you may know, sedans only made in 97 and 98, and lots of them were auto, so a nice manual sedan will often go for a premium.

Don't mean to make assumptions, but based on your past cars it sounds like the car is more important than a low price. If that's accurate, I'd check out the classifieds in the Roundel, the mag of the BMW Club of NA.

Lots of very clean cars owned by enthusiasts. Also check the small specialty dealerships in your area.
