    Open/Close windows using remote

i have the factory 2 button remote, does anyone know how to program it to open/close the windows. If i hold down the disarm button, the led will flash once (disarming the car) and keep holding it down, will flash a second time, but it does nothing when it flashes the second time. I have heard of a few people with E36's that can open the windows with the remote. Is this even possible to do with my car?

    Thanks in advance

You should run a search. Some people have used window modules or extended their lock triggers with timered relays.

I don't think its possible using OEM programming. I think the second flash is the disarming of the sound sensor.

There's gotta be a way to do it with the oem alarm. Because there is a lock pulse, and all you need to do is find the lock wire, and extend that trigger.

I think where we're getting to with this is....

Someone is mentioning about sending a pule to the lock wire of the alarm to have the BMW roll the windows up and close the sunroof. This is stock in your car, when you turn your key to lock your car and hold it there, your windows close and sunroof as well. This is basically sending a constant pulse in the lock position.

What I'm saying is, can you do this with the remote. Meaning, the pulse is sent as long as you depress the key on the remote. I'm wondering if that is true.

if you hold down the alarm lock button, it starts a panic mode, so it dosn't work by holding the alarm button down. some guys on the bmw-forums have E36's that open and close the windows/sunroof with their remote.

How do the locks have anything to do with the windows?

The convience 'rolldown' via remote was started with E46 for the three seires, the E39 for the 5 series, and the E38 for the 7 series.

You can however roll our windows up with the key in the door.

You could probably buy a window rollup module that would take the lock pulse from the remote and hold it for 20 seconds to rollup the windows. Rolling them down would be more tricky, and would have to use the unlock pulse and would require relays and such. However, either method would ALWAYS roll them up or down as there is no other button on the remote to use.

                      Sirius,

The locks have everything to do with the windows. As mentioned before, sending a constant lock pulse will roll up the windows. I have done just this on my remote start installation last week. I put the lock pulse on a timer, and it will start as soon as the lock button is pressed. If the windows are down, they will roll up when I call for it to do so. To make the windows go down, you need to do more extensive wiring than just tap the lock wire. I didn't feel like getting into any more wiring than I already did, so I opted not to do this.

Hahaha. I didn't see that he was asking about rolling the windows down. My bad. i don't know about rolling the windows down, but to roll up, just do what i mentioned before. To roll them down, try what blkm3 stated. Good luck

I have an alarm writeup from an old member, PM me your e-mail address and I will send it over. It details how to roll them down using an aftermarket alarm. It will be more tricky with the factory alarm and I don't recommend it as it is only a 2 channel remote and the windows would go down every time you unlocked the car.

How about rolling the windows up with the OEM alarm? I haven't figured that one out. *Does the time need to be hooked onto an aftermarket alarm?* Or does the window module act like a timed relay and can be joined into the lock pulse of the alarm?

*EDIT* Is the module you guys are talking about only useable on an aftermarket alarm with extra auxillery channels?
