    how much is inspection 2?

Anybody know around how much is the dealer charging for inspection 2 for e36 m3?

I think $500-$700. You should find an independant BMW mechanic as opposed to going to the $tealer. It will be much cheaper.

Wow, that is MUCH MUCH higher than I've seen elsewhere. Call a few other dealers, though I'd imagine most dealers in the area are going to cost the same.

Are you willing to drive a little bit?

Sterling BMW blows...even though I live 5 minutes from there.

Everything they have is overpriced, and they're not very friendly people.

I just checked my receipt. My independant BMW shop charged me $530. ****in' dealers.... $980 is absolutely ridiculous for what they are doing. Hell, I felt $530 was a little much for what they do.

I dnt know about you lot but here in england we get shafted. My dealer charges from £450 - £1200 for an inspection 2 depending on the condition of ure M3. I'm lucky i get the Head team engineer to take care of me and he does a good job and doesn't try 2 rape me.

Also everytime i go 2 the dealership the treat me like dirt, i mean there polite and helpful but i feel the concern is not genuine.

Here comes a dumb question, what is an inspection 2? I just take my car to the little garage for each service but never had a bill that high so i'm guessing they havent done that inspection for me yet. I'm at 62k miles

I definitly would check this place out. I had my M looked at/ inspected by them and they told me it was a wreck, which was true:banghead:

BAM-check out Fairfax BMW if you have to stealership route...they quoted about 750, which is a bit cheaper than Sterling's quote.

anyone know a good place to get this done around northern virginia?

Holy crap, the little indep guys can rip you off too, my shop that does my oil changes wanted $1200.oo outta me. The guy who owns it is really weird, he told me if I give him my bussinness for my brakes and a no kidding "blow job" he will lower it.

I would recommend that you print out the Inspection list and do most of it yourself. If you can't finish it, take it to a mechanic to finish it off. Alot if it is just checking for leaks etc. If you can tackle basic things like air filter, spark plugs, and oil changes, you'll save yourself big money on down the line. There are many DIY writeups on the net plus the Bentley service manual to help.

Also, don't forget about the less frequent services of flushing the radiator and brake system and changing tranny and diff fluid which might not be priced into your quote.

If you follow the green lights, Inspection II should come about every 40K miles.

FYI, here's the list of things to do (also in your owner's manual):
