    E36 M3 Evo GT2

Does anyone else know anything about the 99' m3 GT2? It was based on the 96-99 E36 Evo and it was a limited edition next gen GT that was made in 95. I have an article on it in i believe BMW car mag. It was the first time i had ever heard of it any i can't find any info or pics on the car.

    Second paragraph.

Its basically a Imola m3 evo with the splitter and wing. It didn't receive as many cool things as the GT did.

I no that BMW registry said that the car is a 3.2 Evo but i beg 2 differ as i nearly bought a Imola Red GT 2.

Also that guy on Bimmer forums says he's got a GT2 M3 but i think hes either lying or has been fooled.

the original M3 GT had been built 2 comply with 1995 Le Mans regulations ( only 396 GT's made which were manual and in Mexico Green), the GT had a front airdam splitter and a two tier rear spoiler. All were painted in dark green, and power was up from 286 bhp to 295 bhp. Torque was up by 2lb ft. So it was not discernably quicker on the road. It had lower and stiffer suspension, while the interior was leather and suede as standard. Also some trim parts were made from kevlar and carbon fibre. In 1998/1999

they made a GT 3-Litre mk 2, otherwise commonly known as GT 2.

This car still had the same 3 Litre Engine , however it was mated to an SMG unit. Also another difference is in the 2 tier spoiler which now featured a 3rd Brake Light. All GT mk2's were painted Imola RED only 50 were ever made.

bact 2 my original comment the GT2 in bimmer forums ,i have seen 2 in real life and they were nothing like that guys M3.

Firstly the bimmerforums engine bay has a M3 Evolution unit, not a 3Litre unit. Also where is his Strut BRace ? All GT's had a M-tec Strut Brace. (look at pics attached which show original GT engine Bay)

Secondly the interior, fair enough he has leather and suede but BMW Individual would fit seats like that 4 u. I no this because as i ordered some parts 2day from my BMW dealer, i asked whether any Evo's had suede seats fitted, they then told me they did but it included the handbrake and steering wheel to have stiching matching the colour choice you specified. This also by the way was a 2G upgrade upon the leather option!

BUT back 2 the guys interior look at his centre console i see no carbon fibre or kevlar whatsoever. Also while looking at the interior shot notice how his Kick plates are the same as my M3 evolution, ie M3 with slashes.

A real GT has carbon fibre and kevlar splattered everywhere. Look at the photo i attached and you will also notice that above the glovebox there is a plaque which is specially for the GT which reads

"BMW MOTORSPORT INTERNATIONAL - LIMITED EDITION".

Also the Kick plates r along the same design.

The exterior also has no LM badging or real LTW wheels. A real GT has no M3 badging what so ever. The wheels also say BMW Motorsport! The door mouldings have badging similar to the interior.

          Just look at my pics!

anyways not tring 2 be a ****, i thought i'd share my info with u peeps.

Ravi those were informative posts, but they were marred by your use of '2' instead of 'to', which makes you seem like an idiot. It's 2004, time to ditch that early-90's trend of numbers instead of words.

Ravi, what are you talking about? There are 2 different models. The M3 GT which was 3.0L powered, and had tons of special parts.

Then the M3 GT2, which was based off the m3 evo. Hence why he has a 3.2 motor.

Ravi you must be living in 1995. THey made some E36 M3 EVO GT2's, only in Imola red with matching two-tone interior. GT2's were not generation II of GT's, hence they didn't have everything that the GT had

Buy a 2003 May issue of Total BMW, there's the most informative article on GT2
