Got My Evo 3 Short Shifter Installed

Hey guys, today i finally got my Evo3 SSk installed along with my UUC TME (Red) and my DSSR. The shifting is amazing, you hit your gear every time. There is a VERY slight vibration felt from the TME but man i love it, it feels like a race car... The shifting on the evo3 for those of you intrested in it, is very smooth and precise. The shifting is a little notchier than what expected but i like it, a lot(I have heard that it smooths out). <---- If someone knows this for sure let me know please. Its at stock height right now and just feels amazing, im gong to play around with it at diffrent heights and try it out. Props to UUC. I got the whole thing for 400 shipped, so i got a real good deal!!!

Did you install it yourself? Whats a DSSR?

The instructions looked like it was a tough job, alot of blind wrench work.

Mine came with the TME's too, but I dunno what a DSSR is to look for one.

I think a DSSR is a weighted selector rod... correct me if I'm wrong.

Well the DSSR has weight to it, but it cleans up the slop from the normal rod. side to side movement is reduced. My friend installed it for me while i helped out. We just took the tranny cross brace off and let the tranny sag to get some extra room up there. Everything was cake except the bitch clip. Other than that you should be Ok. No more than 2 - 3 hours. Mine took 3 1/2 hours total, that because we dicked around and couldnt get my o2 sensor out. Man what an accelleration difference with a new o2 sensor

Do you have to remove any of the center console? Or does the shifter just drop out the bottom?

The only part of the center console that needs to be removed is the shift boot (and some stuff below it - foam padding, rubber shift boot). Very easy inside the car.

The install is pretty straightforward. The hardest part is the infamous "bitch clip" that everyone talks about.

I had an evo 3 in my last car and it's definitely on my list of mods for this car.

EDIT: The shifter itself is pulled up out of the car; the carrier and selector rod are removed from under the car.

Ahhh. Is the bitch clip that funky round clip that you need to pop off with a small screwdriver?

The install is very easy and really isn't too blind except for hooking up the selector rod (bitch clip). Total install time with heat shrinking the wiring of the lighted shift knob was under an hour for me w/ a buddy helping.

it will get smoother - the more miles you pound on it, the better it wil get.

if there is such a thing as a "neccessary mod" a SSK would be it:thumbsup:

The bitch clip for me was the carrier clip(thats the hardest) not the selector rod clip, that was the easiest part.

Maybe thats what I meant - too many parts to remember. Anyway one of them sucks, but just get in there w/ a flat head and it'll come off.

I had my Evo 2 for a year and yes it does get smoother over time.
