    High Mile M3's

Im IN THE MARKET FOR 95-99 E36 M3 AND I WAS WONDERING HOW MUCH IS TO MANY MILES ??? DO THE CARS STILL RUN STRONG AFTER 100K??

    #2
I bought my '95 last September with 122k miles (mostly freeway miles)....but it drove and looked like practically a new car. It all depends on the condition, I suppose.

There was a similar thread to this one a while ago, and the general feeling was for high mileage cars, you should be looking at around 12k to 18k, bone stock, but decent condition.

I did buy mine for 16k, but it had a butt load of extras, and the condition of the car was definitely the deciding factor.

    Good luck!!! eace:

Must you yell? I got a headache now.

It really depends on how the car was treated through-out its life.

yes they do...but you want to make sure that the compression/leakdown is good and you'll want records of regular oil changes. Also, see if there has been front end work to it (vanos, chains and tensioners, belts, waterpump, etc) b/c these start to go around 100K and they're expensive. How do I know? 102,000 and I just replaced the vanos, both chain tensioners, and the accesory belts. It WAS expensive. Good luck.

How bout we look at for how many miles these cars, engine mainly in mind, last.

I have heard that a taken care of engine will last 300,000. Maybe more.

Another told me that once a car hits around 200,000 the frame of the car won't be as tight as ones with a less miles.

I personally have 82,000. Bought it at 81,200 and drives like a dream.

145,000 miles on a 98 coupe and it still runs flawlessly. Needs some general maintenance suspension wise but I have never had a problem with any of the drivetrain.

It depends on the year and the overall condition of the car. I've seen plenty of cars with 20k miles that are beat to hell.

For me personally, I won't buy a used car with more than 10k miles per year. My 99 has 49k miles on it, so that works out pretty good.

But it's your call, based on the condition of the car mechanically and cosmetically.

How Many Is To Many Tho?

Try typing in something that somewhat resembles English for starters.

Oh and the magic slipper is designed to blow up at 100K miles so to answer your original question, no they completely stop running.
