I have tried everything to get my 95 M to quit ticking. I checked the oil, changed the oil both synthetic and regular, tried some JB engine tune up stuff, injector cleaner etc... Nothing makes a difference. Vanos? If so anyone know how much this could cost? I have had other cars that have come out of it with the JB/seafoam but not the M :fuming:

Well, let me ask some questions...How long has it been ticking? How long have you been driving with the tick sounding like that? How much oil and what weight are you putting in? -
when I got the car it was a quart too high on oil and I did not hear anything. While driving home with the car about 200 miles and I started to hear it. So I now have Amsoil 10/30 in it along with some Lucas oil stabalizer. Rev it up and it goes away for a few seconds and then it's back. Does not tick until it warms up a little. :???:Comment

dnt worry about it its normal, just make sure to check the oil level if it gets 2 noisy.Comment

If you put synthic in, go back to it. You're not supposed to switch back and forth. From what I have been told, once you go to syn, you're not supposed to go back to regular mineral oil.Comment
