Can a e46 style key be cut to fit an e36?

I'm a new guy here, wondering...

Is the new style of keys I see for most of the e46 models the same shape as the e36 keys? and if so, could you program one of them with the built in lock/alarm/panic buttons to work with your e36?

It can't be done. The keys are completey different in design and technology.

does anyone know if this key is programmed to function with a factory alarm kit or any alarm kit for that matter?

glad to be of help, however you probably want to research if those buttons would work with your alarm.



also, the seller on ebay noted that "It also has 3 button which does not work." find out what he means about that.
