    Buying A M3 but Have ??????

I'm seriously considering the purchase of an M3. I've been doing my research and have narrowed my focus to a 1995-1999 2-door, 5-speed M3. Would like the forum's opinions on things to look out for, items to avoid, etc.

    1. Are there any features that should be avoided, if possible? Any features that are must-haves?

    2. Any problem areas to be aware of as I begin looking at candidates?

    3. I want a 2-door, 5-spd. model. Should I expect a better price vs. a 4-door, 5-spd model, all things being equal?

    4. What will "probably" be my biggest expense down the road--replacement tires? I hear and read the M3 has a healthy appetite for rubber...

    5. Is $10-$15K a realistic price range for what I'm looking for?

Thanks in advance for any input!

Check out our FAQ section. There are 2 nice threads there. The buying used thread and the thread on "if you had to buy it again"

-If I were you, I would stay clear from the luxury package.

-If the car has mods, most likely means it has been driven hard.

-If you ever plan on doing big turbo in the future I would suggest an OBD I.

-Before purchase, send the car you're looking at to the nearest BMW dealer and have it inspected. (Inspection should cost around $190)

-For every defect you find (i.e. slipping clutch, worn tires, worn brake pads, etc.) take off the asking price. That's kinda obvious.

-Personally don't like the look of the 4-door.

All I can think of at the moment. More guys should have some imput.

With 81,000 miles, perfect condition I got her for $14K. Check out the link in my sig.

I Love my car only thing I would change would be that I would have got a M3 w/Vaders and also tried to find one w/forged 5 spokes....sweet rims but good luck finding a M for sale w/them.
