1998 m3, confronti chip, what next?

    Hey,

i have a stick 98, and installed the confronti chip about a month ago. I could tell a difference but nothing huge. I went to the dragstrip and ran a 14.3 as my best time. I was thinking an air intake would be the next step, if not let me know. I was wondering if i would have to get a new chip that is programmed to run with an air intake. What air intake is truly the best out there for the 96-99 m3s

    thanks

better headlights, how does going faster help if you can't see where you're going?

Intake you will love the sound of it at high rpms. Many people ask me if I have the stock exhaust after hearing my car.

An exhaust upgrade is really only going to change the sound some. You'll get a little weight loss thrown in, but not much performance boost. I would go with the Conforti CAI. You should have a software upgrade not a chip if you have a 98. Is it the Shark software? If this is the case you should be able to send back your software to be upgraded w/ the CAI in mind. This you should feel. The CAI also sounds amazing when you get on it. Bonus.

Exhaust is still a good mod to have though it may not produce top horsepower...no bolt-ons are going to do a ridiculous amount...with the exception of the obd2 cam-kit.

I would say do an exhaust and an intake. Thats what I did..followed by an SSK, Xbrace, wheels, suspension, etc.

u need an intake.. ur not able to utilize the chip without it.. i noticed a huge difference between the chip and intake.. with just a chip, it was pretty much same as usual.. very little difference.. with intake.. the air was able to get in as needed much better than sliding the air through that little hole they call an intake.. after that do the 50 series manifold.. much better route than what i took.. don't bother with the exhaust..
