Do Low Dust Brake Pads Really Work?

Are they worth it? In other words, is there a noticeable difference over stock? I am so tired of washing my wheels and in two days they look like they haven't been touched in weeks.

Yes, they definitely work. My Hawk HPs pads dust a whole lot less then stock. The dust is this kinda orangish color though...which is odd.

Get axxis ultimates or hawk hps.

I should have done that last brake job I did. :banghead:

when you guys replace your pads, are you replacing your rotors too or just having them resurfaced?

you can't resurface BMW rotors...just throw em' away.

New ones aren't that expensive though.

Unless you get the floaters... us specs are pretty cheap./

... but you don't have to replace rotors when you change pads unless they are worn past the specs right?

You don't have to. You just gotta bed the pats to the rotors though.

i wouldnt recommend dustless pads..... you sacrifice some braking power for clean wheels.

Yeah, but its a fairly minimal loss isn't it?

I think it's minimal. But you can get flamed on bimmerforums for saying you go low dust, apparently everyone over there tracks their cars. Or, likes to say they do.

someone needs to do a road test for the dustless pads vs. stock pads...

numerous people say there is noticable difference and under heavy braking there is fade.

i hate my 10 spokes because of the brake dust, but i put up with it.

i wouldnt advise dustless pads if you drive your car aggressively.

Thats a bit strong. I would say HPS pads/ Axis Ultimates are better than stock pads and both are known to dust less..in fact both are considered "sport/auto-x" pads by most vendors.

I had stock with my stock brakes and now have Hawk Hps with my porsche brakes..i cant comment on the differences in stopping power as the new brakes are a whole different world of braking...but less dust is always nice.

You can try a product called Wheel Wax, It greatly reduces the dust from sticking to your rims. I use it and also P21s Wheel cleaner they both work very well.
