    Zeemax Widebody Conversion

    Hi guys,

For the last year I've been exploring options on making my car stand out a bit more by increasing the bulge factor. The E36 was OK for the 90s but lets face it, although still very classy it looks understated by todays standards (i.e. E46 M3, late model 911s, 350Zs, RX8s etc), especially for the power and handling it packs.

So I was looking into fender flares but the kits I was able to find are not seamless, it still looks like they're tacked on, i.e. Rieger, Hamann etc.

One conversion I believe looks cool but expensive is the UK based Zeemax (inspired no doubt by the E30 M3).

I would like to ask if any member or guest of this forum has this done conversion. If yes, does this require changing suspension components to take care of the extra width or can it be done with a wider wheel like 11+J?

I am open to other suggestions.

    Thanks in advance.

I believe you just stick really wide wheels on there. Someone on BFC had a widebody kit put on his car and between the cost of the kit, installation, painting, and odds and ends, the cost was nearly $15k.

    Good luck.

friend of mine did it to his '95 M3. if the conversion is done right - it looks really good.

since the car is Cosmos, the bodywork and paint had to be flawless to look right. it

took months for the project to complete and a lot of $$$. the only suspension mods

done were H&R springs. last I spoke to him, he's selling the beast, something about

      a "speeding violation".

        Thanks Avus Blur.

Yes, I realize its expensive. Maybe I should save for a used E46 M3.

Just out of curiosity is there a sedan widebody kit out there?

I know there was an E36 GTR sedan, but has anyone done it to a road car?

BTW that black car is pretty sick

My favorite widebody is the Esquiss kit, AvusBlur mentioned the guy on Bimmerforums with the widebody, that is the kit he used (his name over there is MCrazy)....you can also go to www.eurowerkz.com and see his car in the NY chapter of the team.

I like the lines of the e36 m3 as they are and its almost not worth it now to throw $15k (which is what it would cost to do everything right) at a car which is worth somewhere around $15k.

$30k and a little saving will get you into a slightly higher mileage e46 m3. (which when lowered namely on pss9s looks like it has a widebody on it).

ya - it was sick, and he kept it immaculate ALL the time :-)

I asked about the price and he stated about 5,500 for the kit and

close to 10K for the install, prep, paint. it also took like 5

months to complete - too long to wait IMO.

he sold the car with all the goodies in it; got tired of all the tickets

                HTH

You speak the voice of reason. I just hate to the idea to have to part with my car, I dunno if I can ever do it.

BTW the car in the eurowerkz link is one sick puppy. Man, where do they get all that cash!

                  Thanks for your help
